\title{The \texttt{mathAIdisclose} package}

\begin{abstract}
This package is designed to help mathematics researchers disclose AI use transparently and in a standardised way. It builds on the \texttt{cleveref} package to reference indexed lemmas, theorems or definitions when generating the AI disclosure. There are two different styles of AI disclosure available, one using footnotes, and one generating a disclosure at the end of the document.
\end{abstract}

\section{Introduction}

As the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly becoming more and more common in mathematics research, there is currently no consensus within the mathematical community about what constitutes a ``good'' AI use disclosure. The \texttt{mathAIdisclose} package, and the companion taxonomy MAIDeT developed in parallel, are intended to unify the structures of AI disclosures going forward. Transparent disclosure requires an accurate description of \textit{where} and \textit{how} AI has influenced a manuscript and this package is designed to make it easy for authors to communicate these specifics.

Mathematics is usually written in three-levels: There are indexed environments such as lemmas, theorems or definitions; there are sections; and there is the entirety of the manuscript. This package builds on the \texttt{cleveref} package to provide the command \verb|\discloseAI[]{}|, which can be included in any indexed environment, such as a lemma, theorem or section to disclose the AI tool use for this specific part of the article. The command \verb|\globalAIuse[]{}| should be used to disclose AI tool use which has influenced the entirety of the paper. The command \verb|\customAIdisclose{}| allows users to formulate custom declarations that do not fit into the other methods. The package collects all of this information and prints a coherent AI disclosure using the command \verb|\printAIdisclosure[]| and the end of the document.

\section{Usage}

The \texttt{mathAIdisclose} package can be used in your document after including the line
\begin{verbatim}
\usepackage{mathAIdisclose}
\end{verbatim}
in the preambles. It requires the packages \texttt{hyperref} and \texttt{cleveref}. There are two additional options available:
\begin{itemize}
	\item The \verb|[solo]| option should be included when a document is written by a single author. This means that all generated AI disclosures will be formulated in the singular form. For example, they will say ``The author discloses...'' rather than ``The authors disclose...''
	\item The \verb|[footnote]| option changes the disclosure style throughout the document. When this option is included, the command \verb|\discloseAI[]{}| generates an unindexed footnote wherever it is included (see the bottom of this page). Without this option, all AI disclosures are collected at the end of the document when \verb|\printAIdisclosure[]| is included.
\end{itemize}

It is assumed now that the \verb|[solo]| option is not included, whence all sentences are formulated in their plural versions. The package includes three commands available for disclosing AI tool use throughout different places in the manuscript:
\begin{itemize}
	\item The command \verb|\discloseAI[model]{task}| needs to be included inside of an indexed environment, which the \texttt{cleveref} package is able to reference. For instance, inside of Lemma 3.2 or inside of Section 5. If the \verb|[footnote]| option is included, it generates an unindexed footnote as on the bottom of this page.\blfootnote{The authors disclose the delegation of \texttt{task} to \texttt{model} in Lemma 3.2.} Without this option, the sentence
	\begin{center}
		\textit{The authors disclose the delegation of \textnormal{\texttt{task}} to \textnormal{\texttt{model}} in Lemma 3.2.}
	\end{center}
	is included in the AI disclosure section generated by the \verb|\printAIdisclosure[]| command at the end of the document. It is important to note that this only works if \verb|\printAIdisclosure[]| is included after all instances of \verb|\discloseAI[model]{task}|.
	\item The command \verb|\globalAIuse[model]{task}| may be included to disclose the use of AI tools that have influenced the entirety of the document. Using \verb|\printAIdisclosure[]| after this command is included, will print the sentence
	\begin{center}
		\textit{Throughout the manuscript, the authors disclose the delegation of \textnormal{\texttt{task}} to \textnormal{\texttt{model}}.}
	\end{center}
	in the AI disclosure section. If the command is included multiple times, each other instance adds the sentence
	\begin{center}
		\textit{They also disclose the delegation of \textnormal{\texttt{task}} to \textnormal{\texttt{model}}}
	\end{center}
	in the AI disclosure section.
	\item The command \verb|\customAIdisclose{text}| simply prints the input \texttt{text} in the AI disclosure section generated by \verb|\printAIdisclosure[]|. Its purpose is to provide the necessary flexibility to disclose AI use that cannot be expressed using the other two commands. This command should also be used to affirm that the authors of the manuscript have verified the contents of the paper for correctness and that they assume responsibility for the manuscript.
\end{itemize}

The final AI disclosure is generated using the command \verb|\printAIdisclosure[]|, which will create an unindexed subsection called ``AI contribution disclosure''. The title of the section can be changed by including the desired section heading in the square brackets. For instance, including
\begin{verbatim}
\printAIdisclosure[AI tool use disclosure]
\end{verbatim}
leads to the subsection's title being ``AI tool use disclosure''. The subsection then contains, in this order, the global AI disclosure, the disclosures made using \verb|\discloseAI[]{}| and the custom AI disclosure. If none of those three commands are used throughout the document, the command \verb|\printAIdisclosure[]| instead prints
\begin{center}
		\textit{There is no use of Artificial Intelligence to disclose.}
\end{center}
in the AI disclosure section.
